CONs' FI ENT L Approved For Relea 002/06/18 : CIA-RDP84-00 33R0005OW70007-5 2 8 m 1-180 MEMORANDUM FOR: Chief, Management Staff, ODP FROM: Chief Information Systems Security Group, OS SUBJECT: Interim SAFE terminal to have access to VM REFERENCE: Memorandum fromi NCPO/W, 25X1 dtd 25 April 1960, subject: Request for ADP Support 25X1 rne reterence request to access the Agency VM system via a remote terminal currently in use by NCPO/W for accessing the Interim SAFE System. 2. This remote terminal is a Delta Data 5000 located in suite 1D-867, the Pentagon. In addition, the suite is located o w is access is controlled by an aroun -t e-c oc guar force, seven days per week. A volumetric (motion detection) alarm system in the five room suite provides complete area coverage. The alarm control (access/secure) box is located on the internal wall of the suite in proximity to the main entrance door, 1D-867. The alarm is monitored by the Federal Protective Officers (FPO's) at the Physical Security Division personnel surveyed the site in April 1979 and advised that the physical security measures are adequate. 3. advised Information Systems Security Group (ISSG) that the terminal will be only used during normal workin hours. Access to VM and SAFE will be limited to and his company of two professionals and one clerical within the office. During all hours of occupancy the office suite is under the control of a NCPO/W staff person. Access to the suite is restricted to persons who have been identified by NCPO/W personnel. The offices are not left unattended unless the combination lock on the main entrance door has been set and the alarm system activated. 0 4. Information Systems Security Group has no objection to use of the Interim SAFE terminal for VM access as long as the following procedures are met: a. The terminal will have personnel designated as monitors to exercise proper control over terminal access. The monitors will be responsible for assuring that the terminal is properly logged off the system and secured at the close of business each day. b. In the event of spillage (receipt of unrequested data), the user must immediately notify the ODP Security Officer. c. informed ISSG that the data which NCPO/W will enter into the VM system will be releasable to anyone with proper clearances within the Intelligence Community. Therefore, all output must be screened for spillage prior to distribution to other members of the Intelligence Community. d. Any data that is printed in hardcopy form will be done remotely at CIA Headquarters and forwarded to NCPO/W by using the Agency courier system. 0 e. Each individual requiring access to the VM system must be assigned a valid VM Userid and password. 5.
