Approved For?Release 2003/11/06 : CIA-RDP84-0093000400210024-1 MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Data Processing Deputy Director for Processing SUBJECT: Processing Weekly Report for Week Ending 2 December 1981 Briefings - I briefed 2 contractors working on CAMS2 Development and other representatives of the COMIREX Staff, on the services that are provided to CAMS1 by the Data Base Management Branch. A tour of the Data Base Control Center and OC/Data. Communications Center followed the briefing. IBM completed the initial installation of the new 3081 Processor on Monday 23 November. Checkout of this processor is underway. Initial diagnostics are being run by IBM remotely through a diagnostic phone link. The Amdahl 470/V6-2 processor was upgraded to 6 megabytes of memory on Saturday, 28 November. Physical installation of the memory has been completed but additional check out is required before the new memory can be turned over for use. A tour of the Ruffing Center was given to 15 members of OTS on Tuesday, 24 November. The Ruffing Center had a good week for production. All OCR applications and GIMDEV lost about 100 minutes, Wednesday, due to paging errors on a Telex disk pack. A system software problem caused a loss of JES for 50 minutes, Wednesday. Monday, the IBM 370/168-1 was down for 7-1/2 hours, caused by a bad card. The Special Center had an excellent week. The major problems were an 18 minute loss by TPNIPS on Friday because of applications software errors, and a 30 minute loss of VM on Tuesday, 1 December, which has not yet been resolved. During the week of 1 - 4 December, two operators from DIA will be at the SAFE Center as part of an indoctrination and training program.
