1. The Productora de Algodon (Sindicato Fabricantes de FIilados y Tejidos
Algodoneros), Huerfanos 1147, Oficina 701, Santiago, Chile, is an organization
formed jointly by the cotton textile mills in Santiago, and financed jointly
by them, in an effort to establish a commercial production of cotton in Chile.
The organization of Productora de Algodon consists of Sr Emilio Garcia and
one stenographer.
2. The only zone in Chile suitable for cotton growing is that extreme northern
section in the Llura and 0 de Azapa valleys. They are thinking about planting
some cotton at Ovalle, just north of Santiago, but nobody has any hopes that
cotton will grow there.
3. Where the altitude and climate are suitable for cotton, there's no grater;
where they have water, the altitude and climate are unsuitable.
+. Altogether, this year Li9537, they will probably not grow 500 bales in all
Chile, and to gin this, they have borrowed and used an old 70-saw gin of
unknown make from Tacna, Peru.
