Approved Release 2003/05/05: CIA-RDP80BOO 6R0003001 8 MAR i4?S The Honorable Albert H. Quie House of Representatives Washington, D. C. 20515 Dear Mr. Quie: As you know, employees of this Agency who are injured in the performance of their duties are eligible for benefits as provided under the Federal Employees' Compensation Act. I have been personally interested in the progress of the House bill, H. R. 10721, to amend this Act. The $525 maximum limitation on benefits under the existing law is certainly antiquated in comparison with present Government er u loyees' pay scales and would impose a financial hardship on the many employees in grade levels affected by this limitation. Your understanding of this situation and your appreciation of the hardship which the present law imposes was a major factor, I am sure, in bringing this problem to the attention of the House Labor Subcommittee. ''e. at CIA. are also grateful to you for your assistance in obtaining passage of the specific provision providing employees under the Central Intelligence Agency Retirement Program benefits equivalent to thos i e prov ded under the Civil Service system. While your work on this measure may not be widel , ...,,.~.., thousands of Federal employees and their dependents are indebted to f you or snaking these increased benefits available. Sincerely, r.~ ~', ^ Il Distribution: Orig & i - Addressee 1 - DCI 1-DDCI ~-ER 1 - Personnel * F. On House of Representative, Washingtas. D. I have been personally interested in the progress of the House bill, H. R. 107Zl, to amend t Act. The $5Z5 maximum limitation an benefits under the existing law is certainly antiquated in comparison with present Govirnrnezat employee,' Pay scales *n would impose a financial hardship on the many employees in grade leis affected by this limitation. I believe that the amendments, reported by the Labor Subcommittee and passed by the House, apply a reasonable standard for Government employee, today and show the foresight of persons like yourself in drafting a bill whist will provide flaadleility in the Muse without the need for specific legislative amendment. We. at CIA, are also grateful to you for your assistance in obtaining passage of the specific provision providing employe, under the Central Intelligence Agency Retirement Program befits equivalent to those provided under the Civil Service system. W>eetle your work on this measure may not be widely known, thousands of Federal employees and their dependents are indebted to you for making these increased benefits available. sincerely, W. F.
