INSTRUCTIONS APPLY
Attached is a statistical update as of 4:0 a.m. (EDT)
May 9. The following are significant operational
highlights:
-- The recovery of a 78 page notebook in the Fish
Hook area, has provided detailed information on-enemy
infiltration beginning December 22. Of particular sig-
nificance is the fact that the information provided by
the notebook agrees completely with that provided by
communications intelligence.
--~ All operations are continuing with only moderate
small unit contacts. Numerous caches and new base areas
are continuing to be uncovered: Elements of Operation.
Toan Thang L3"(BA 352) uncovered two caches containing
73 tons of rice and a regimental base camp; Operation
Toan Thang 44 (BA 354) discovered a base camp with mess
facilities; the caches reported this morning in operation
Toan Thang 45 (BA 351) are now being counted and over two
million rounds of machine gun ammunition are included in
the statistical summary; in Operation Binh Tay 1 one cache
has yielded an estimated 500 tons of rice.
Operation Cuu Long I (BA 704/704) which began yester-
day has made moderate contact with the enemy.
-- A map showing areas of operation is attached at
Tab A.
