Haig (Paris) Following information was given to me today at the Chinese Embassy residence in Paris by Tsao and Wei. They commented that it was not a message but for our information and they were anxious to have it transmitted. "According to our intelligence reports, certain elements of the Chiangkai-Shek clique are conspiring to paint onto military aircraft of the Chiangkai-Shek clique the markings of the People's Republic of China for a surprise attack on President Nixon's special plane on its way to China. The Chinese side finds it difficult to judge the reliability of these reports, but wishes to bring them to the attention of the United States side."
