THE DIRECTOR OF CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE
SUBJECT: Briefing Materials for Secretary Kissinger
Secretary Kis singer,. will visit Peking later this year. In preparation
for this trip, it is requested that current briefing material be provided
on the following subjects:
? Status of PRC Strategic Weapons Programs and National
Defense Posture
? Status of Sino-Soviet Relations
? Current and Projected Foreign Policy Orientation of the PRC
? Condition of the PRC Economy, and Its Relation to Foreign
Trade (especially with the U.S.)
? Current and Anticipated PRC Orientation to the Taiwan Question
? Outlook for PRC Internal Politics: The succession problem;
outlook for policy changes affecting domestic and foreign
relations (political, economic, military)
It would be appreciated if these studies could be transmitted to the
Secretary via this office no later than November 8.
