Your Meeting with Secretary Connally
Ambassador Watson, in giving dates for the President's meeting with
Pompidou, noted that Pompidou wants to have the Rome meeting of
the Monetary Conference on November 30. He wants the conference
to occur before he meets Brandt in early December. (Tab A)
Secretary Connally has been delaying the meeting and the ball is in
his court. He will chair it. Hal Sonnenfeldt recommends that you
take this up with Connally (Watson probably does not want to come
forward in the State channel to avoid disclosing fhat rp 'ka c 1+p n talking
with Pompidou).
