u.~ rwa,tj 3't-~In No Objection to Declassification in Full 20.10/05/19: LOC-HAK-450-6-7-8 THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON TOP SECRET/SENSITIVE November 10, 1971 MEMORANDUM FOR THE SECRETARY OF DEFENSE SUBJECT: All-Weather Tactical Air Capability The President has requested a report on current U. S. tactical air interdiction capability for all-weather operations. The report should include: -- Current U. S. tactical air capability, both Air Force and Navy, in all theaters; NAVY, USAF, Review Completed -- Numbers of tactical aircraft in each theater with all-weather capability, including aircraft carriers; -- Accuracy of various systems installed in all-weather air- craft and limitations associated with target, terrain, and other factors; Present planning to increase all-weather capability; -- Comparative cost of providing all-weather capability, including reductions in other aircraft performance charac- teristics caused by addition of all weather capability; -- Current and projected capability of allies and potential adversaries to utilize tactical aircraft in heavy weather situations. The report should be submitted to the President not later than Decem- ber 6, 1971. Henry/.
