Estimated number of North Vietnamese Army forces in: Leos 85 - 105,000 Cambodia 38 - 42, 000 South Vietnam 82 - 98, 000 North Vietnam 290 - 310, 000 South Vietnamese Civilians Killed. During the last seven years an estimated 47, 000 South Vietnamese civilians have been killed by the enemy. Some 26, 000 of these deaths were due to deli- berate assassination. p. Refu ees. The P rizme Minister of Laos has estimated that 100. 000 people have been refugees in Laos at one time or another. There are currently an estimated 300, 000 refugees in Lays. Refugees from North Vietnam. The number of Vietnamese who . fled to the South from North Vietnam after the Communist takeover is estimated to be over 800, 000. Many others were prevented from leaving. -- Vietnamese Killed in North Vietnam. The number of Vietnamese who were killed in North Vietnam during the 1954.1956 period after the Communist takeover has been estimated to be between 50, 000 and I00, 000. Estimates of those who died during this period vary from 20, 000 to half a million.
