Status Report on Exploration of South
Vietnam's Off-Shore Oil
State has reported that the GVN plans to extend invitations for bids on
off-shore oil concessions sometime in mid-February (Tab A). The GYN
estimates that the bidding process will take about three months. About
26 oil companies have filed preliminary questionnaires and are eligible
for the bidding, although a far smaller number will actually receive
invitations to bid.

GVN Plans to Extend Invitations to Bid on Off-Sho
Concessions in About Three Weeks
The Embassy reports that the GVN plans to extend
actual invitations to bid on off-shore oil concessions
in about three weeks. The Ministry of Economy told
the Embassy that it expects the bidding process to take
