No Objection to Declassification in Part 2012/12/28: LOC-HAK-186-5-52-3 SU&TECT: i 22 October 1973 initally cause y differing Egyptian and Israel! ceasefire tines, a confusion which in view of the most recent message from Egyptian Presidential Advisor for National Security Affairs Hafiz Isma'ii's most recent message has now, it may be hoped, been resolved without negative consequences. Mr. Ismail and his superiors probably will not attach undue importance to this mixup if Dr. Kissinger comes to Cairo after visiting Tel Aviv. If Dr. Kissinger does not visit Cairo at this time, however,. senior Egyptian officials will be tempted to read other interpretations into the Iilixup on the cease- fire timing. The Egyptians very much want Dr. Kissinger to visit ..Cairo now and, in view of what appears at the moment to be less than solid Arab backing for President Sadat's decision to go for peace, they may need or at least be counting on such a visit to help keep the momentum going in the direction established over the past 24 hours.
