SUBJECT:
Joint ARVN/FANK Operation in
Cambodia
Mr. Helms has sent you the attached brief description of a projected
joint ARVN/FANK operation into northeastern Cambodia (Tab A). -
In late November FANK forces plan to attack Kratie City from the
west, hoping to relieve the city and surrounding area. Shortly after
the FANK drive begins, ARVN units will move into NVA base areas
701 and 702 from the east in order to destroy enemy supply caches.
Further details such as the size of the ARVN force, duration, and
depth of penetration have not yet been determined.
