Industrial Security Task Force

SUBJECT: Follow-up Report on Task Force Report (U)
1. (C) I thought you would be interested in a follow-up
report on our Task Force Report. The EAG met on Tuesday,
18 April 1977, to review our recommendations. They spent
about an hour and a half focusing primarily on recommen-
dation No. 1 having to do with the pros and cons of dual
delegation of authority. The discussion was spirited and
I believe useful. The EAG members seem to be split regarding
the adoption of this recommendation although the DDCI, who
chaired the meeting, seemed to favor a single delegation of
authority. No final decision was made on the issue pending
further written comments by some of the EAG members.
2. (C) At the end of the meeting the DDCI did indicate
that the security recommendations should be approved.
3. (C) Comments by EAG members prior to and after the
meeting were complimentary with respect to the report. It
is my impression that our recommendations will be adopted
after further clarification of the implementation of
recommendation No. 1.
