Science A Iications International Corp. -(415)322-7960- Created: Sunday, March 26, 1995 9:07 PM - Page 1 of 1 ------------- ------------------ pp,rszvssiF".ReJease-2003/09146-! iA=RDP9fs-~7~ rR00020~'fg0~53=3---- March 26, 1995 MEMO SG1I 26 March 1995 From: Ed May Hello. Thanks for calling. I received both machine messages. I was, however, in LA on business and did not return in time to return your call. I did contact Al on Thursday morning and asked if he had heard from you with regard to the computer issue. He said he vaguely remembered, and when I asked if he were going to help, he said no. Well, I want to thank you for the effort ...I think we did the best we could. I'm saddened by the obvious waste of time, money, and effort, but perhaps Al has his valid reasons. So, when I return from the east on 1 April, all the equipment returns that week. I'm delighted that you had a chance to talk to Jack. I think that he has the most balanced perspective of any. Oh, as you go through the documents at Meade, it is likely they do not have any of the ones pertaining to the Army 5-year program. In 1985 Jack Vorona (DDS&TI) and Gary Rapmund issued a memorandum of agreement (a copy is in our office in McLean) saying that, although all the money was from the Army Med Command, nonetheless 25% of the research could be in support of applications. (We now call that a lied research.) In point of fact, over 50% of the research was applied. I believe that on site at SRI had all the Army co ntract documents, but I believe that most if not all were destroyed when he left DIA with terminal cancer. Thus it is likely that the Meade document collection does not have the results of 4 years of research (-$6.OM) out of 17 years and a total of $11.6M. During the SRI days, this period was the most productive. Dr. Rapmund is second on my must-contact list I gave you. I think you would also find his perspective quite valuable. I am busy in the morning on Monday, but I will try to reach you about 1600 or 1650 your time. Regards, Edwin C.
