WIESBADEN, West Germany
April 17-A bomb similar to the
one that destroyed Pan Am Flight
103 exploded while being examined
today, killing an investigator in a
case involving Palestinians sus-
pected of terrorism.
Another officer was critically
wounded in the explosion at federal
police headquarters, said spokes-
man Arno Falk of the police bureau.
It was not clear whether the
bomb had been seized in connection
with the Pan Am investigation, but
the manner in which it was dis-
guised was said to be similar. Asked
how police obtained the bomb that
Falk replied: "This is in

estinian terrorists in Frankfurt and
Duesseldorf, in which weapons and
explosives were seized.
A second explosive device was
disarmed without incident after
part of the police building was evac-
uated as a precautionary measure,
the police statement said.
Investigators in the Pan Am
crash, which occurred Dec. 21., in
Scotland, have concluded the bomb
exploded when a detonator sensi-
tive to air pressure set off plastic;
explosives packed into a combina-
tion radio and cassette player
stored in the cargo hold.
A bomb so disguised was among
the items seized Oct. 26 in Frankfurt
