Approved For Release 2000/08/08 : CIA-RDP96-00789R002600230006-3 SUBJECT: STAR GATE (U) (S/NF/SG/LIMDIS) STATUS: --DIA received Congressional direction in FY 1991 to initiate a new program in anomalous phenomena: --$2 million funding received. --Objectives included formulating a long-range comprehensive plan, developing an integrated foreign data base, publishing foreign assessments, developing proper documentation, obtaining external assistance. --Additional Congressional direction received in FY 1992: --Additional $2 million received for research. --DIA to 'dedicate 10 civilian billets to project. --Even balanced to be maintained between foreign assessment, operational activity, and research. --Operational users to be identified, report on overall 2-year architecture to be prepared. (S/NF/SG/LIMDIS) MILESTONES: --LIMDIS project established 31 January 1991. --Published Foreign Assessment, Long-Range Comprehensive Plan by 30 May 1991. --Published/documented all other project requirements by June 1991. --External contract on line by July 1991. --FY 1992 billet action in progress. --New research requirements identified and contract package in coordination by 11 February 1992. --FY 1992 2-year program architecture report to be completed by 30 March 1992. (U) RESOURCE REQUIREMENTS: --Additional research funding may be required for FY 1993.
