Approvdr Release 2002/05/17: CIA-RDP96-00789R002500240002-7 MAIL LISTING FOR August 13, 1993 SG1J - Mail - August 12, 1993 4:29pm MAIL IS - FROM: Viewed Ntfy Private Urgent TO: John T. Berbrich FOR YOUR - SUBJECT: star gate feedback Information COPY: SG1J Mr Berbrich? This confirms an earlier discussion I had with A source in OSD/LL indicates that Dr. Anita Jones is very much opposed to the star gate program, and is seeking information on which Senators are involved in supporting the program - in order to assess the prospects for killing it. I provided only sketchy information about the various players, but we are in a situation where we have to be at least somewhat cooperative. I did pass along that I felt there was significant and strong support from some major Senators, and that I felt it would be difficult to change their minds about the program. I also indicated that this is not a large program - either in dollars or in personnel - for DIA. I don't know if there is anything we should do from an LL perspective at this point, but I thought you needed to know the lay of the land - and that perhaps you might want to talk to any contacts you might have within DDR&E to get a better guage on why the program is suddenly of such interest at this high level. SG1J I will keep informed of any developments on this end - and we can talk tomorrow at KC meeting if you like. V/R. Approved For Release 2002/05/17 : CIA-RDP96-00789R002500240002-7
