SUBJECT: Army Science Board Panel on Personnel Factors in Weapon System
Performance, Dr. Peter D. Weddle, Chairman
1. Panel meeting at INSCOM 15 May 1984, Room 130. Arrangements have been
conf rme w t on Mlinarchik, Executive Director, Army Science Board (79703)
and Al Creasy (DCSPER) (51457/54615). (SECRET level).
2. Background - Last year, a small ASB group including Dr. Weddle, GEN
Blanc fd-f d- ncTothers were briefed by INSCOM on activities of the Monroe
Institute and other para-psychological subjects. On 7 March, by telephone
with Dr. Weddle, I ascertained that he wants to follow up on plans and
progress made in these areas. He also said that LTG Elton had asked him to
review these subjects and identify applications to Army operations and
training.
3. LTC Alexander has been alerted to prepare an agenda and topics for
discussion. It is recommended that the agenda be reviewed with Dr. Peter
fj S Weddle before the meeting.
4. Attendance is estimated by Al Creasy to be about seven people as listed:
Chairman - Dr. Peter Weddle: (Director, National Security Programs, The
Hav Group. Washington, D.C.).
Dr. Glenn Gaustad: Mgr., Advanced Tech. Labs, Texas Instruments,
Dallas.
Dr. Edward R. Jones: Chief Human Factors Enginee, McDonnell
Douglas. St. Louis.
Dr. Chris J. D. Zarafonetis: Private Consultant, Biomedical R&D,
Inc., Ann Arbor, Michigan.

5. 1984 ASB Summer Study at the National Academy of Sciencies Study Center,
Woods o e, assac uset (30 July-09 August) will concentrate on two topics:

b. Technologies to Improve Logistics and Weapon Support.
The meeting on 15 May is in preparation for the Summer Study. INSCOM is one
of several activities requested to brief this and other panels of ASB in
connection with the Summer Study.
