REPLY TO ATTN OF: SG1J Approved For Release 12 Oct 88 DT-S IA-RDP96-0078t8ROlMDo9'39L6613D4OVER N M ENT memorandum S20,011/DT-S88 SUN STREAK Report - Third Quarter CY 88 (U) DT (Dr. Vorona) 1. (S/SK/WNINTEL) In pursuance of SUN STREAK's operational intelligence mission, the following reports reflect the results of activity pursued by the Prototype Operational Group (POG) for the reporting period: a. (U) At TAB A is the Quarterly Production Report as sorted by viewer. b. (U) At TAB B is the Quarterly Production Report as sorted by project. c. (U) At TAB C is the Quarterly Production Report as sorted by remote viewing operational methodology. (S/SK/WNINTEL) The following analysis is short summary of "lessons learned" from our remote viewing efforts during the reporting period: a. (S/SK/WNINTEL) An analysis of some forty sessions conducted by five remote viewers operating in an independent solo mode without the assistance or presence of a facilitator against Pearl Harbor as a target, revealed unique and valuable insights towards improving the effectiveness of our remote viewing procedures. The length of the "solo sessions" were shorter than normal and lasted an average of thirty to forty minutes. Sessions normally last fifty to sixty minutes. A greater number of shorter sessions in a solo mode were required to cover a conventional type target of interest. Viewers were very uncannily conscious of the dangers of overlay, even when they appeared to be completely on target. Results appeared highly accurate when keyed to specific queries; the information became increasing less reliable as the viewers elaborated on or exceeded the parameters of the basic query/requirement. b. (S/SK/WNINTEL) In the area of "search", Written Remote Viewing (WRV) was successful in two separate instances in correctly identifying the pending destination of vessels suspected of carrying illegal drugs. It should be noted that when amplifying data was requested, the accuracy of the (nice-to- know) information became wanting. Examples of essential queries are: "Is the vessel carrying narcotics in the form of contraband? Where will it unload the contraband? When? How is the contraband recognizable from the rest of the cargo? c. (S/SK/WNINTEL) The SUN STREAK effort against the US hostages in Lebanon cannot be fully evaluated until the release and debriefing of one or more of the hostages occur. The results of the viewing against the hostage situation to date has remained substantially consistent. The anticipated, predicted, dates of release were and continue to be skewed. Initial date of release was projected as occurring in June; last predictions indicated the period of 5 to 29 October for the release of LTC Higgins with other hostages to follow successively within a forty-five day period. Efforts to date indicate that LTC Higgins remains a prime candidate for early release whereas Terry Waite and Terry Anderson are apparently scheduled to be released last. (S/SK/WNINTEL) The conduct of "topical searches" will continue on an intermittent basis to determine pertinency, accuracy, and marketability within the community. Of all the issues being confronted by SUN STREAK, the topical search remains the most difficult and precocious to analyze in terms of consistency, reliability and value. 4.
