Mission time is 0900 hours. All right #46, the time is now 0900 hours. Your mission for today is to go to the following coordinates: Again: SG1A I want you now to relax, relax, concentrate. Focus on this location and describe your impressions to me. PAUSE +03 #46: I was in the grid...about two thirds of the right, to the right of the grid with a....with a....with a ribbon of water that separates two land masses...looks like a.river... Second impression is...my attention is drawn by a...kind of a metal plate with holes in it..... Metal plate is on a pole, beneath the pole, beneath the metal...plate is something like a chopper blade or comething that keeps going round and round Below +05 that is like a. .....like a cement bunker or something..... bunker's half in the ground, half out of the ground... PAUSE In the bunker there are two or three people...just like (mumble) there are two or three people, that's all... (mumble) It's either a radio intercept site or a radar site or both..... It's on the side of the river for monitoring activities or signals on the other side of the river This is a hilly country...doesn't make sense except.... +10 (mumbling)...got the bottom of the slope and there's the Approved For Release 2000/08/ : I - - 0788R000400530002-9 Approved For Release 2 -00788R000400530002-9 #46: river....and slopes upward again from the other side.... See four miles from the river :let the impression it's a forward type site...either it's protecting or monitoring for whatever's behind it... (mumble) Seems like 30 miles from here I've got the impression it's monitoring for...useful for .something to do with choppers two engine aircraft...C-130's or something... An air facility that's civilian, but converted +15 to military use Something about a flag or marker that...they're green, white, red, maybe... .......... .0.4,090.0 Airfield is...surrounded by, uh, pretty heavy vegetation, almost jungle like I have the impression of single engine jets coming in I'd have to say MI 's #14: Describe this aircraft. #46: The jet engine is through the nose #14: Do these aircraft have any sort of markings on 'em? +20 #46: I'm looking for that, but it's it's not clear The symbol is circle, the outer ring is red, there's a ring of white and I can't make out the ball in the middle I still got the raw impression of red, white, green, but I.....(mumbling)..horizontal stripes on the rudder, but... It's just an impression that this is.. .a Russian aircraft given to another country. PAUSE +25 Fire power is in the wings... The wings can hold about... six rockets on each side, and.....that's what these would be for would be ground support, I guess ..... 0.6400.6.6 That, that's about it I don't have any- thing else. #14: All right. I have no further questions. Pause at this time for debrief. We're now ready for debrief. #46: Okay I'll...label this number one. This is what I picked up. You're coordinates not as...small ribbon water. I was pretty altitude, with, uh, it's like a river, okay, Approved For Release 2 I1- mmtZ P96-00788R000400530002-9 Approved For Release 2000 788R000400530002-9 #46: sloping upwards here towards high ground. This is green and vegetation... Okay. Same thing in this direction. Something like that... What I perceived to be that... perforated plate, which turned out to be a radar or monitoring site of sorts. This is marked off by an "X". And later on the small airfield that I was saw to the left Following the dotted line. I'll put that "Xl"... That was the impressions after the coordinates. Okay? Anything you want? I don't know. #14: Oh...you could draw me a picture of teh plate, and of the bunker, oh, what about the- oh, the bunker was part of the site. #46: Yeah, the bunker was here. It's on the, uh, sloping side of the hill, protruding something like this. Okay? Something like that. And where I first saw that plate was on this center pole. Here, let me try and do that. Label that chart number two. And I'll try and draw what I thought was the bunker. Just kinda coming out here. Okay? With the principal spar here, and a plate. They looked perforated to me How you spell perforated? P-E-F-O-R-A The weird thing about that was underneath the perforated... plate were several blades or something like a helicopter blade that kept turning...the area. Okay... This is cement. And this is kind of all vegetation... And this seemed to be about three or four miles from the river. #14: Okay. How about the aircraft? Did you get anything? #46: Yeah, the aircraft. I got a pretty good front view of the aircraft. And, what it is is...the intake is right in the nose of the aircraft. Okay? It goes something like this. And then the wings are like this. Sleeker than that, really. And underneath the wings- they're really hidden, okay? Something like that, with the rockets underneath the wings, about six rockets. That's about exactly how I saw it- psheew!- coming down. #14: On the some page down in the lefthand corner why don't you see if you can reproduce the marking. #46: I had problems with that. Okay. #14: Well, just general idea. #46: It's really...like this, the outer s-, well, let me draw it this way. And like this. I thought this was red, the outer circle. This was white, the inner circle. And I lost it there, but I thought it could be green. Now it Approved For Release 20 -96-00788R000400530002-9 Approved For Release 2000/ 0788R000400530002-9 #46: it had tail markings like this...not really like that. And I had stripes over here...I had a hard time dis- tinguishing colors. Okay, but there was a predominance... of red, white and green. Maybe I was trying too hard to find out what the hell was what. But this was on the fuselage... #14: Okay. I can't think of anything else. Can you? #46: No, not unless you've got something. #14: All right. End of session.
