1. The purpose of the AUDTCK program is to provide ED personnel with the
capability to fault isolate and identify malfunctioning computer hardware,
affecting the data base, by backtracking from the malfunction's end result,
usually data corruption. AUDTCK will also pinpoint where data corruption has
occurred, allowing an opportunity to fix the damage without user impact or
system down time. Prior to AUDTCK most data base inconsistencies were
identified by NDS users and resulted in DMR aborts and schedule impacts.

3. The following organizations are responsible for carrying out this
procedure:
ED/SPB: Maintenance of the AUDTCK software.
ED/SEB/DBS: Analysis of AUDTCK output.
OD/DCOB: Execution of AUDTCK software, notification to ED/SEB/EPS
personnel of error conditions and forwarding listings to
ED/SEB/EPS for analysis.
4. Verify each Operational System audit trail tape as soon as it rewinds.
Expeditions verification is necessary to maximize the probability of fixing
errors without user impact. Verify each audit trail (timer) tape on the
Operational System by keyin in:
ST SPS*$$RUN. AUDITCK/XQT,,,D

The AUDTCK program will be loaded and will solicit an input tape number.
a. Enter first reel to verify - XXXXXX
b. Mount Audit Trail input tape and enter the six digit ID number
(00NNNN).
When the verification of each tape is completed AUDTCK will output the
following message:
ENTER NEXT REEL TO VERIFY - XXXXXX
Respond with 000000 to terminate AUDTCK (i.e., exactly six zeros)
5. Should AUDTCK error, start the following runstream:
ST SPS*$$RUN.AUDIT/LIST,,,D
The error file will be sent to device 'PR'. Error conditions are to
be reported to ED/SEB/EPS,F---] during normal working hours.
6. AUDTCK will produce a computer listing that will be sent to device
'PR'. All output should be sent to ED/SEB/EPS for analysis.
7. If more than one reel is to be verified, answer each delay message
with the next input tape number. AUDTCK will continue asking for input tapes
until a six zero (000000) response is entered.
