Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/08/14: CIA-RDP94-00798R000200320130-6 LOGNOTE -- Chief, Operations Group, 10 February 1984 2. (Williams) Further my earlier lognote on SOVA's Soviet satellite transmission request. Talked with AD/FBIS and we agreed to go ahead with an ex erimental shot, limiting coverage to three hours or less. had been in touch with SOVA again and found they seemed unable to get their act together, either in specifying the requirement or addresssing the funding angle. They apparently were talking about the possibility of getting the funeral events from cable TV or other alternatives. All in all, it sounded like a replay of the dithering that went on in DDI prior to the Bundestag debates. AG will provide guidance to the bureau in the absence of any from DDI. confirms that a genuine requirement exists, the prob em seems to be unable to cope with is limiting the requirement to manageable size for collection purposes.
