Following from today's staff meeting: 25X1
- Mention was given to recruiting problems
How this will affect FBIS remains to be seen.
- McMahon has approved the memo proposing the European Bureau.
FBIS will proceed in planning activities regardless of funding
issues which are still undecided. Initial activities will
involve contacts with and officers at the Embassy in
Bonn.
- Office of Security has been reorganized. Director
has two deputies, DC/AS
will soon be leaving. He will be replaced by as
soon as the necessary paperwork clears appropriate DA offices.
We hope to have an additional security officer identified for
FBIS.

- Final CFC totals are in. Agency was 2 percent over target.
FBIS, although all figures are not known for certain, ranked
first within the DDSU. Our congratulations to all.
- The DI has formed a Philippines Task Force. FBIS will talk with
them in the near future concerning coverage and survey results.
- FBIS has received a cut in FY-86, but none against
Modernization. This is a tentative figure, but FBIS will now
have to take a second look at the cut exercise.
- The FY-87 initial EXcom proposal for budget cuts left FBIS
untouched. The Gramm-Rudman bill was not addressed. New FY-88
initiatives are due 21 January to the SU.

- FBIS will be moving to the Reston area as the first step in the
consolidation of all DDSU offices. We will be in one building

space for FBIS will be 75-78,000 sq. ft. (vice 66,000 now).
All FBIS components including JPRS will be collocated within
this space. Basically it will be a park and drive situation,
but limited Metro service is currently available. Additional
information on Metro service and shuttle buses will be looked
into soon. There also is a cafeteria in the complex.
