Trump-Conn Report: At FBIS request, two outside consultants
took an unusual fixik at our Daily Report. For the first time
in FBIS history, the Daily Report was examined from a professional
"journalistic" viewpoint. Christopher Ttump, Assistant Dean at
the Columbia University School of Journalism, and Steve Cann,
former writer for The New York Times and a Columbia consultant,
did the survey. They spent two weeks on the Daily Report and three
days at the Panama Bureau, the latter to look at the field operation
and our overseas editorial training program. Their report contains
a number of recommendations which will be evaluated by FNIS for
possible implementation. Copies are being sent to the field bureaus;
all FBIS Staff editors are being asked to read and comment on the
Trump-Conn observatm recommendations, and to forward these
comments to C/DRD.
