In response to your letter of 13 September 1983, we checked the
enclosed three page list of National Intelligence Surveys (NIS),
Section 23S. In no case has any Section 23S been declassified; all
of the publications listed on hand at HQ 2nd Weather Wing retain
the security classification indicated on the lists.
While many of the 23 Sections (Weather and Climate) of the NISs
for the countries you indicated have been declassified, the 23S
Sections remain classified. In fact, because of the nature of the
information they contain, we see little chance that any of these
special sections will be declassified in the near future.
