[Jost Aav report: "Big News About the Sault Box"]
CExcernts] At the beginning of October Estonia's weekly
TV Guide with a print run of 240000 copies in Estonian and
100.000 in Russian carried for the first time the programme
schedule of Finnish TV.
This move can be seen as yet another fruit of glasnost or
openness in this country.
Due to geograph, icat proximity Finnish TV can be watched
in the northern pant of Estoniar including the capital
Tattinn. [passage omitted]
This summer floods of Letters started to arrive at the
Estonian SSR Radio and Television Committee from viewers in
southern Estonia who demand that the reception area of
Finnish TV be extended to the southern border of Estonia.
The save idea was voiced in one of the resolutions
adopted at the Estonian Popular Front Congress. Providing
the whole of Estonia with the possibility of viewing Finnish
TV is seen as one way of doing away with the present unequal
access of people to information in Estonia*
