[commentary by Captain Edward Otome Luteng, former tip
from southern Sudan]
CFext] You know how the SPLA Lives against you, the people.
They don't kitt vittagers, only the oppressor, who is your enemy
anl our enemy. This is the person we are looking for. Youe
our ;: eopte. know very welt that people from all parts of the
country betona to the SPLA now.
Those of yo. in big and small towns, try to give us a c anoe.
Move out of these towns and attov us to fight these enemies of
the SuGanese peoote. As soon as they are dealt with, you can return
to your homes. We are not chasing you out of your homes.
You Viso know that we do not violently rob. Wherever we je we
ank for fool. If'tha owner wants to sett it to us, we buy it.
Put if he :cps nt, want us to buy his food, we Leave hir, alone
.and keep our monty.
Now th:a PLA h3v? reached Juba. We are there on a mission,
mission to issur< the Sudanese people that the kiltinq of innocent

representatives of alt nationalities have joined the movement.
When the movement started, it was easy for some groups to
deceive you by saying that the SPLA is a tribal movement.
But some of you are no longer deceived because you see that your
fathers, brothers and sisters are now in the pte
from western, eastern, northern and central Sudan are all with us
in the SPLA.
As for the Lutakas, a group which joined the SPLA recently
was entirety made up of Latukas. 3ut there is one problem
which bothers us. This is the problem of our brothers in the
Sudanese Army, 'ust of them are former Anyanya One fighters.
Some of these people thought that war was the last of its kind
and that nobody would over fight again. This is a wrong
way of thinking, because that was the first war whose aim was to
organise us for the final war.
Today's war is the war we want to be the final one# so that our
Grandchildren do not have to experience war or suffering. You
insiefe the army are our brothers. Therefore we want you to think
about the way you are fighting your brothers in the bush, if
it is because of money, you aretwaking a mistake. This shows that
wh*~n you joined Anyanya One, It was also because of money.
We thought that you patriotically wanted to fight the enemy and
liberate your oppressed people. You should also know that as
we advance, we scorch the earth. The children of those who die
fighting for the government will not get any compensation.
Those of you in Torit and Juba should mutiny now, at later
[as heard]. If you are afraid of being overwhelmed, remember
