1. Ed Levine called to say SSCI is planning to have the
policymakers (Weinberger, Shultz) down for a hearing on 11 June
to discuss how policy concerns generate intelligence
requirements. This to be followed by the DCI and Burkhalter
about 19 June to describe how policymaker requirements get
massaged and eventually implemented. This to be followed at
some unspecified date by representatives of the Intelligence
Producers Council and the three IC Committees to describe their
roles in the implementation process.
2. Ed wants to know the Director's availability during
the third week in June. He also would like to talk
about the IPC before he attempts to schedule any
further briefings. I will ask to arrange for Levine to
availability.
