Wyche Fowler's Request For 'A Written Estimate of Cuban.
Personnel in Nicaragua
1. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) staffer
Diane LaVoy telephoned yesterday to advise that Representative Wyche Fowler--
the newly appointed chairman of the Oversight and Evaluation Subcommittee--
would like a brief, official estimate on the number of Cuban personnel in
Nicaragua. We, along with the administration, have claimed that there are
approximately 6,000,,,_2,000-of --whom are military advisors. Is this estimate
correct? How is t "is derived?,)
2. This expose should be brief, only approximately one page. Mr. Fowler
asked that this be made available to him by Monday, March 14, 1983.
