+ AMMUNITION DEPOT EXPLOSION - Following a request from State/INR on
10 April, the FBIS Wire Service alerted field bureaus to intense
Washington consumer interest in public media reports, reaction, and
commentary on the explosion at the Islamabad/Rawalpindi area ammunition
dumpl
Over the next Z4 hours alone, more tnan a cozen
responsive items were filed at immediate precedence and carried by the
Wire Service, prompting the Office of Public Affairs to call D/FBIS to
express its appreciation for the extensive and timely reporting on the
event.

? + KUWAITI AIRLINER HIJACKING - After extensive reporting on the
hijacking of the Kuwaiti airliner during its stay at Mashhad, Iran, FBIS
Nicosia Bureau extended its operations to a 24-hour-day watch on 8 April
to cover Cyprus radio for early morning reports on the drama following
