Of Special Interest This Week
+USSR POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS -- FBIS coverage of the CPSU Central
Committee Plenum and the Supreme Soviet session, held 30 September and
1 October respectively, helped keep the DCI and the DDCI briefed on these
significant events in a timely manner. Items monitored by London Bureau
and run on the FBIS Wire were passed to them by the CIA Operations
Center. During these 2 hectic days, FBIS Wire Duty Officers maintained
constant contact with the White House Situation Room, the CIA Operations
Center and the National Military Command Center to provide policymakers
and Intelligence Community consumers with timely reporting ronthei major
leadership shakeup that occurred in the Soviet Government.
