MEMORANDUM FOR: Legislative Counsel
SUBJECT: Anti-Communist Conference in Taipei, May 1960

1. The referenced anti-Communist meeting is probably the sixth
annual meeting of the Asian Peoples Anti-Communist League (APACL).
This year, the Chinese Nationalists are to be the hosts. KU Cheng-
kang, Chairman of the Taipei Chapter, is this year's Chairman of
the APACL. The fifth annual conference was held in Seoul, Korea,
1-10 June 1959.
2. The APACL was formed at a conference called by President
Syngman Rhee of the Republic of Korea, at Seoul, in June 1954.
Representatives from the Republic of China, the Philippines, South
Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong, Macao and Okinawa attended. Since that
time the APACL has gained represent Be ivF-- I In
eddi" on,. it has the support of a number of other anti-Communist
organizations. United States' repreaentatbn was in the persons
of Secretary, "Committee of One Millions;, and
of #rchitectural Forum.
