DESCRIPTORS: *Refractory materials. Quartz.
Iron compounds, Nickel compounds, Chromium
compounds, Oxides, Combustion, CAtalysis.
This work established that quartz packing adcelerateu
the combustion, especially at temperatures b-61aw
7000 and that fire clay grog is more active than
quartz at temperatures higher than 7000, but at lower
temperatures the relationeWp Is rLyersed. Oxides of
nickel and iron exert a higher promoting effect than
vanadium oxides and permit a lowering of the S-4..

A general review is given of research on acetylene de-
rivatives based on observations originally nude as
early as 1888 and 190D. Acetylene alcohols are formed
by condensation of acetylene or vinylscotylens sad ke-
tones in the presence of anhydrous potassium hydrox-
ide. 7beir polymers are good film-forming materials.
Electrolytic hydrogenation of acetylene alcohols in sods
solution gives olefinic alcohols v&lch cim be dehydrated
