John J. Mitchell, Committee Counsel for the New Committee on the
Katyn Forest Massacre, wants to arrange an appointment for General
Smith to meet Congressman Ray J. Madden, Chairman of this Committee,
either tomorrow morning, 18 Oct., or Friday morning, 19 Oct.
Mr. Mitchell said that Congressman Madden would not be able to come
over to Gen. Smith's office in the afternoon because Congress is
in session, but could make it in the morning. He suggested maybe
Gen. Smith wouldn't mind coming over there if he wanted the
appointment for the afternoon. In the morning, any time before
11:00 or 11:30 would be fine for them to come here.
Mitchell asked that he be called in Congressman Madden's office -
Code 190 - Ext. 423 or 1862. If he isn't there, the message can
be left with Mrs. McGloon.
