Approved For Rele 009 : CIA-RDP9 10 June 195Z Legislative Counsel 1. Reference is made to your memorandum of 6 June 1952, subject as above, to Legislative Counsel. 2. I have discussed this matter with Mr. Wisner, who has brought it to the Director's attention, and as a result I have informed Mr. Mitchell, Counsel to the Committee investigating the Katyn Forest Massacre that -- 25X1 C a. ad recently emerged from behind the Iron Curtain; b. he is prepared to testify as to his knowledge of the Katyn Massacre; 25X1C c, it would be difficult for us to bring to this country for at least a month. but that it would be possible t s-. bring him here later in, the year; and d. we would secure the best possible deposition 25X1C from if the Committee desired one. 3. The Committee does not plan to hear any more witnesses for several weeks and may not hold any hearings until September. Mean- time it wishes to know whether would be willing to testify in public or whether publicity concerning his name would harm relatives or friends still behind the Iron Curtain. I would like to have you ascer- tain that fact for me.. /'~~ "'~a 6 // 6 /T z- Walter L. pforzheimer Approved For ReNSU'f87?09'9 CIA-RDP91-00682R000300100010-0
