SECRET Approved For ReleaSOC2Aft0 J&OrMtLORDP91-00682R000300100005-6 6 August 1952 MEMORANDUM FOR: Legislative Counsel SUDTECT: REFERENCE: Your Memorandum dated 10 June 1952, Subject as above. 1. In regard to Paragraph 3. of the referenced memo- randum, we have learned that - has been quarried about his desire to testify as to his knowledge of the Katyn Forest massacre. He is willing to testify in public provided it is in the US. He does not feel that the publicity concern- ing his name would harm relatives or friends still behind the Iron Curtain. His primary concern is the safety and security of his wife and two children who are with him. 2. As you may recall, congressman Furcolo informed you that most of the letters sent by his office to individuals behind the Iron Curtain were returned. The letter sent to - did get through and has been analyzed. From the 25X1C analysis there is to reason not to believe story "that the letter was extracted from the international mail by an acquaintance of his in the and the letter therefore, was not subject to police scrutiny." The ID/TSS would like to examine other letters sent by congress- man Furcolo's office to individuals behind the Iron Curtain. If you could obtain any of these from his office it would be mach appreciated. 3.
