SISOPHON MILITARY CAMP EAST KAMPUCHEA
1. (SWN) SIGNIFICANCE: ELEMENTS OF A PEOPLE'S ARMY OF VIETNAM
(PAVN) ARMOR COMPANY HAVE ARRIVED AT THIS CAMP SINCE
2. (SWN) REMARKS: AT LEAST SIX ARMORED VEHICLES (POSSIBLY M-113
ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIERS) ARE DEPLOYED IN A DEFENSIVE POSTURE
AT A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED VEHICLE PARK. THE VEHICLE PARK HAS
COVERED PARKING SPACE FOR 12 VEHICLES. THE MOVEMENT OF THIS
PAVN ARMOR UNIT INTO THE SISOPHON AREA SUGGESTS PROBABLE
PREPARATIONS FOR AN OFFENSIVE AGAINST DEMOCRATIC KAMPUCHEAN
FORCES.
(SWN) SISOPHON, IN NORTHWEST KAMPUCHEA, IS APPROXIMATELY 30 NM
SOUTHEAST OF THE THAI BORDER AND HOUSES ELEMENTS OF A PAVN
ARTILLERY REGIMENT.
