SUBJECT: Cancellation of SSCI Hearings on CI and Security
Issues
1. I spoke with John Elliff who informed me that the
SSCI will not hold hearings on CI and security as had been
planned. In lieu of hearings, the staff has been tasked to
learn what progress had been made and to identify any problems
in these areas. Conclusions will be provided to Members in an
"internal memorandum".
2. Elliff said he would provide a schedule of briefings,
but wants to start and complete SE0 prior to Members leaving
for adjournment. The staff would follow with the Moscow New
Office Building, personnel security, and counterintelligence.
