CIA STATEMENT ON BLANDON TESTIMONY
CIA categorically denies Blandon' s assertions that it furnished any such
information regarding US Senators and their staffers to the Government of
Panama. CIA is prohibited by law (EO 12333 and Attorney General's approved
implementing procedures) from collecting or retaining information on the
personal lives of US officials and US citizens. CIA does not engage in this
practice. Under the law, CIA may only collect or retain information on US
persons if it is of legitimate foreign intelligence or counterintelligence
value.
