Deane Hoffmann spoke on economic reform in the USSR and Bob Blackwell
spoke on political changes at the Security Affairs Support Association Fall

Larry Budge is hosting a series of seminars on a new book by S. G.
Gorshkov, Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union, entitled The Navy: Roles,

Larry Geshwin attended a Strategic Defense Initiative Advisory Committee
meeting tt discuss the Strategic Defense Initiative Organization threat
documentation. This meeting was chaired by General Abrahamson in preparation
for his review session with the Defense Acquisition Board. (Nb/Strategic

Charlie Allen and Director, National Warning Staff, briefed
the National Mobilization Interagency Group Meeting on warning of
Soviet/Warsaw Pact war preparations for war against NATO. (Nb/Warning)

was awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious
Service for her contributions made while assigned to the Joint Chiefs of Staff

Carl Ford met with Hayden Williams, President, Asia foundation, to discuss
East Asia in the 1990s. (NIO/East Asia)
Marten van Heuven attended the debriefing of the Atlantic Council Group,
led by General Goodpaster, to the Soviet Union. The briefing highlighted what
the Group thought were fundamental changes--no more export of revolution, no
more wedge driving, and no more heavy hand on Eastern Europe. (NIO/Europe)
Charlie Allen and staff chaired a meeting of the Washington Area
Operations Center Chiefs' Conference at State Department to discuss strategies
