Hackett, has invited you to attend the opening ceremony of the organization's annual training conference on 11 July and make brief opening remarks. The ceremony is scheduled from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Former FBI Director Clarence Kelley and Missouri Governor John Ashcroft. have also been asked to participate on the platform committee; neither,has confirmed his attendance. The audience will consist of approximately 1,000 local, state, and federal law enforcement leaders from across the country. The event is open to the media, and television and newspaper journalists from the St. Louis area are expected to attend. The organization has also sent a separate request for your photograph and a letter of welcome to be published in the program booklet whether or not you attend. FBI National Academy Associates has also invited you to attend its banquet, which will be held on 12 July from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel. Judge William Sessions is scheduled to attend this event as well as speak sometime during the conference. Since you plan to speak at the Eighth Circuit Judicial Conference on July 15th in St. Louis, I recommend that you decline this invitation, but send a welcoming letter and your photograph for publication in their program.
