The first hearing, which will include Members of Congress who have introduced relevant legislation and Administration officials, is scheduled for Tuesday, March 22, at 2:00 p.m. in 2172 Rayburn House Office Building. We would greatly appreciate if you would agree to participate on the Administration panel at this hearing to discuss, (1) section 6, of H.R 1580 which prohibits the United States military or intelligence cooperation with the Government of South Africa; and (2) H.R. 2443 which prohibits United States intelligence and military cooperation with South Africa. Enclosed are copies of H.R. 1580, H.R. 2443 and a fact sheet providing details on the requirements for submitting testimony. We request that you limit your oral presentation to five to seven minutes to allow ample time for questions by Subcommittee members.
