2. Strategic plans relating to information technology were
reviewed and discussed. The plans were presented by:
1. The Executive Director opened the meeting by reviewing
recent accomplishments of the Board. He also put forth his
agenda for the coming year. This was followed by a discussion of

3. A proposed "strawman" statement of responsibilities
related to management of information technology was discussed.
There was consensus that the strawman was too narrowly focused
and likely to be overtaken by change. F_~
4. The Deputy Comptroller described the approach being used
to put together the FY90/91 program. A proposed a set of
investment priorities for the information technology portion of
the program was discussed. A copy of the priorities is included
in the attachment. The Controller will prepare a "strawman"
investment program to be reviewed by the Board following the
submission of initiatives in January.
5. During the course of the meeting, several issues
requiring further attention were raised:
-- Integration of paper and electronic worlds.
-- Technology test-beds, including the need to focus upon
Agency-unique problems (such as network gateways and
large-scale text processing applications) and to share the
results of test-beds more widely.
-- Data integrity, connectivity and usefulness, particularly
in the context of the Corporate Data Program.
-- Telecommunications capacity and connectivity.
-- Support of information systems in the field and access to
Headquarters information systems from the foreign field.
-- The aging base of Wang Alliances.
-- Auditing within SAFE.
-- Evolution of the registries.
