Maloney Director of Information Technology Weekly Report for Week Ending 17 July 1987 *1. On 15 July 1987, an OIT officer met with staff members o the Senate Select Committee to provide a deposition concerning Agency procedures for handling narrative cable traffic at CIA Headquarters. A mpmhpr nf the Office of Congressional Affairs also attended. *2. Board Chairman and President of IBM, Corp., Mr. John Akers, visited the Agency on 15 July 1987 under the auspices of OIT. Mr. Ed Maloney, D/OIT, hosted the visit and provided a short briefing and tour of OIT facilities. Judge Webster hosted a luncheon for Mr. Akers which was attended by senior Agency officials including the DDCI, the Executive Director, the DDA, the SI-AT DDS&T, the ADDI, D/OIR, D/OIT, D/OC and DC/IMS/DO. 3. OIT personnel have begun a periodic review of employee positions requiring originating classification authority. The Directorate of Operations and the Foreign Broadcast Information Service have completed their revalidation thus far. This revalidation is done under Executive Order 12356, National Security, which requires that originating classification SI-AT authorities be kept to a minimum. STAT 4. OIT personnel have installed a special voice circuit between the Office of Security Duty Office and the Fairfax County Fire Department. The recent hot weather has caused an increase in the number of Wang and Xerox laser printer problems reported to the OIT Service Desk. Poor print quality, damp paper and frequent machine jams are occurring in the high humidity. The problems are particularly evident in Agency o air conditioning is turned off.
