Weekly Report for Week Ending 28 August 1987
2. OIT successfully installed new software in the electronic
Cable Dissemination System at Headquarters. The new software
eliminates the need to use system computer resources for lon
storage of data and significantly speeds message throughput.
3. OIT completed a successful test of the communications link
between the Headquarters Message Handling Facility and the Support
for the Analysts' File Environment (SAFE) External Message
Interface software. The test confirmed the system's capability to
input cables into the Directorate of Operations SAFE database.
SAFE is ated intelligence retrieval and distribution
system.
4. OIT notified all Agency components of the pending revision
of the Agency Telephone Directory. Submissions of information
updates have been requested by 1 September. OIT already has begun
inputting new directory information to be ready for publication in
November. Because of component reorganizations and the planned
activation of new telephones throughout the AQPnrv_ niT intends to
issue a revised directory every six months.
