Maloney Director of Information Technology SUBJECT: Weekly Report for Week Ending 27 November 1987 1. The Medical Information, Diagnosis, and Artificial Intelligence System (MIDAS) reached its Initial Operating Capability (IOC) on 16 November. MIDAS presently replaces two independent systems with one centralized Integrated Database Management System/Relational (IDMS/R) database containing patient information. MIDAS provides the Office of Medical Services additional capabilities and increased flexibility in dealing with medical lab tests and results. An automatic SCHEDULER, now being developed by OIT, will be phased into MIDAS in the second quarter of FY 1988 to automate the handling and scheduling of the form 259B (Request for Medical) within OMS. Other work to be done during FY 1988 includes providing connections from MIDAS to a centralized Corporate Data Personnel database and an electronic connection for medical diagnostic equipment. OIT officers will also analyze th fpasibility of automating the form 259B for Agency-wide use. 2. Multilateral Counterterrorism Database System Program (MCDS) DESIST Release 4.2 was successfully brought up on a VM production system on 19 November, as scheduled. This is an important milestone for DESIST as it brings the system up to the current version of AIM (4.71).
