MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director of Information Technology
Deputy Director of Information Resources
Peer-to-Peer Connectivity Requirement
The DI has a mandatory baseline functional requirement to establish
pee to-peer connectivity pathways. The current PBX network strategy requires
that any communication between devices take place through one of the mainframe
computer centers. The DI requires an alternate strategy, supplemental to the
current networking architecture. This supplemental network strategy should
provide point-to-point file transfer, local control of peripherals, and
departmental computing independent of the mainframe computing centers.
