President of the Maharishi International University Bevan Morris has
invited you to attend a presentation of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's program to
create world peace on Wednesday, July 8th at 1:00 p.m. at the Rayburn House
Office Building. During the presentation, "the technique to create coherence
in national and world consciousness" will be demonstrated. This is TM-Sidhi
'yogi flying'." According to Mr. Bevan, "TM-Sidhi is an aspect of the
Maharishi Technology of the Unified Field which has been shown through
extensive scientific research to reduce violent and negative tendencies and
promote positive trends throughout society."
I recommend that you do not accept this invitation. In 1985 you were
selected to receive the Maharishi Award and you declined it. As you may know,
Maharishi Yogi was the Beatles' personal guru and his followers are great
proponents of transcendental meditation. However, his teachings have not
found a great following in the United States. Recently, according to an AP
newswire article, the organization was sued by one of its followers for fraud
and libel for allegedly representing that a follower could "learn to fly"
through "self levitation."
In short, I do not think this group is deserving of your time. If you
agree, a letter of regret to Mr. Morris is attached for your signature.

It is a great pleasure to inform you that a presentation of Maharishi Mahesh
Yogi's program to create world peace will be given on Wednesday, July 8, at 1:00 p.m.
in the Gold Room (Room 2168) of the Rayburn House Office Building (South Capitol
Street entrance).
During this presentation, the technique to create coherence in national and world
consciousness will be demonstrated. This is TM-Sidhi "yogic flying", that aspect of
the Maharishi Technology of the Unified Field which has been shown through extensive
scientific research to reduce violent and negative tendencies and promote positive
trends throughout society.
I cordially invite you and members of your staff to attend this presentation by
senior faculty of Maharishi International University and experts in "yogic flying".
Earlier this year, on June 3, Maharishi's program was presented at the United
Nations in New York. On July 7, the day before this event on Capitol Hill, it will be
presented at the World Bank. We are demonstrating Maharishi's technology now because
of the urgent need to create an indomitable influence of coherence in world
consciousness. In today's atmosphere of international terrorism and superpower
rivalry, world peace has become the immediate requirement of every individual and
every nation on earth.
Our best efforts through negotiations, treaties, and arms have never made a
lasting peace. But today we have something new that has been proven to work. In
Maharishi's words, "With the total knowledge of the unified field of all the laws of
nature now available, we have an approach to create world peace that is practical,
reliable, effective, and certain."
On July 8 we will explain briefly how Maharishi's approach can be applied to all
areas of national life to create an invincible nation and an integrated world family.
We hope that you, as a leader this most powerful and creative country, will come and
learn about a program which has the potential to at last fulfill the desire for world
peace that has been cherished by the wise throughout the ages.

This year-1987-Maharishi has inaugu-
rated as the Year of World Peace. For the
first time in history there exists a practical
and scientifically validated program to
put an end to violent and negative tendencies on
earth, to remove the basis of terrorism and war,
and to create a permanent state of world peace.
If peace is to be profound and lasting, the basic
areas of society must be organized in such a way
that every aspect of life always remains spontane-
ously evolutionary. This is possible now, for the
first time in the long history of the world, because
of the discovery of the unified field of natural law
and the availability of the technology of the unified
field to enrich all values of life (see Appendix A).
The great significance of the knowledge of the uni-
fied field for the human race is that it offers the
ability to handle the total functioning of nature at
once. With this it is possible to successfully handle
the collective consciousness of the whole world.
The result will be an integrated world family; every
nation will flourish in its full dignity, and together
all nations will live in perfect harmony and peace
(see Appendix B).
This profound knowledge and technology have
really made all the old values of living obsolete. The
present generation has no choice but to leave be-
hind the dark ages of suffering and conflicts. The

CREATING WORLD PEACE THROUGH THE
MAHARISHI TECHNOLOGY OF THE UNIFIED FIELD
EDUCATION
Enlivening the totality of knowledge in the awareness of every student
-all knowledge In one brain
Maharishi says, "The human brain physiology is the
most precious resource of any nation. Through the
technology of the unified field the full creative po-
tential of the human mind can now be unfolded for everyone
to live life in higher states of consciousness-enjoying increas-
ing levels of achievement and fulfillment irk, daily life."
This technology satisfies yo{rth's thirst for complete knowl-
edge by delivering the "fruit of all knowledge"-the ability to
lead a mistake-free life and spontaneously think and act in ac-
cord with natural law for success in every undertaking.
Maharishi's unified field based education has changed the
concept of a university from all knowledge on one campus to
all knowledge in one brain.
Acdon: Educational leaders of all countries are invited to in-
corporate in the existing curriculum of schools, colleges, and
universities one period a day for the science and technology of
the unified field as brought to light by Maharishi (see Appendix
Q. This will update science-based education in all countries.
Scientific research has shown that the Maharishi Technology of
the Unified Field systematically improves intelligence, creativity,
learning ability, self-confidence, and academic achievement.
Collectively practicing the Maharishi Technology of the
Unified Field, students and teachers unfold their inner genius
while creating coherence in the environment at the same time
(see Appendix D). The result will be perfect health, a disease-
free and crime-free society, a harmonious community and na-
tion, and a peaceful world.
HEALTH
Health is the basis of peace
-world peace is the expression of perfect health on a global scale

sciousness are balanced and fully in tune with natural

law. This goal can now be realized with the complete and holis
tic system of health known as Ayurveda, which makes use of
the knowledge and technology of the unified field to bring life
in accordance with natural law. Ayurveda promotes perfect
health by establishing balance on all levels of life simultane-
ously-consciousness, physiology, behavior, and environment.
Action: Governments and physicians of every country are in-
vited to make their health care programs self-sufficient by im-
plementing Ayurveda through Maharishi's World Plan for
Perfect Health. This plan includes the use of local medicinal
flora and the establishment of prevention centers to provide a
health care system that is cost-effective, prevention-oriented,
free from harmful side effects, time-tested, E)and capable of pro-
moting collective health (see Appendix
Scientific research and clinical experience with Maharishi Ayur-
veda have demonstrated profound health benefits, including
prevention of disease, reversal of aging, and promotion of
longevity. Improved collective health has been shown by re-
duced crime rate, accident rate, and sickness rate; improved ec-
onomic trends; and reduced international conflicts, terrorism,
and war, all indicating the rise of balance in nature, w i h alone
can be the basis of lasting world peace (see Appendix

Raising the world economy to fulfillment for lasting world peace

ly lively in the unified field of natural law. The full creative
potential of every nation can be unfolded through the
knowledge and technology of the unified field.
Use of this technology will maximize the nation's produc-
tivity and actualize its full economic potential. This will
raise all nations to the same level of fulfillment and elimi-
nate the problems arising from economic imbalance in the
world family. World peace will be a by-product of unified
field based economics.
Action: Governments and leaders of business and industry
are invited to introduce the Maharishi Technology of the
Unified Field in their respective areas of responsibility.
Scientific research and practical experience have shown that the
use of the Maharishi Technology of the Unified Field in all
areas of economics, including business and industry, produces
the following benefits: increased creativity, leading to en-
hanced productivity, efficiency, and profitability; reduced
stress, absenteeism, and health care costs; and increased job
satisfaction. Group practice of this technology has been shown
to improve national and international economic trends (see
Appendix D).
The Maharishi Technology of the Unified Field will bring ful-
fillment to the highest aspirations of every economic system
in the world, eradicate poverty on earth, and create lasting
world peace.

Raising the efficiency of every government to the level of nature's perfect government
Despite the good intentions of leaders throughout the
world, no government has succeeded in creating a
problem-free society, the basis of world peace.
'his has been due to the lack of knowledge and ability to han-
Ile the nation as a whole. Only by making use of the unified
ield of natural law, which governs the whole universe, can
he whole nation be handled at one time.
kll problems of any nation result from the violation of natur-
iI law by the whole population. A harmonious and orderly
iociety can be maintained only by bringing national life into
accordance with natural law. This can only be achieved
through unified field based administration.
Government leaders are invited to move with the time,
move with the advance of scientific knowledge in this genera-
tion. Use of the knowledge and technology of the unified field
will introduce the most powerful and harmonizing element in
national life, creating coherence in the nation (see Appendix F).
This will contribute to an integrated world consciousness,
which will enable the government to spontaneously administer
the nation in an integrated and evolutionary manner.'
Scientific research shows that the group practice of the
Maharishi Technology of the Unified Field creates coher-
ence in collective consciousness through the Maharishi Ef-
fect, resulting in decreased crime and accidents, decreased
social turbulence and international conflict, and increased
positivity in national life (see Appendix D).
Through the knowledge and technology of the unified field,
every government, regardless of its system, will easily fulfill
its highest aspirations for an administration that can satisfy
everyone. The result will be world peace on the basis of ever-
increasing happiness and fulfillment.
INVINCIBLE DEFENSE
Victory before war by preventing the birth of an enemy
I n this age of nuclear weapons and terrorism, no nation
can defend itself by any means, including force of arms
or political agreements. It is obvious that defense has be-
come non-existent. Victory is as good as defeat, and annihila-
tion is the only reality for both sides. Therefore, the only real
approach to defense is the one that can prevent an enemy
from arising. Enemies arise and thrive on the weakness of the
nation. Invincibility is the only solution to weakness.
Development of nuclear power has inflicted fear on the fam-
ily of nations, and more so on those who are most powerful in
the world, the superpowers. Power has come to equate with
fear; it has lost its purpose. If defense is to be meaningful, in-
vincibility must be founded on something more than the
power of the superpowers.
It is fortunate that the discovery of the unified field of natural
law has now brought the supreme power in nature within our
reach.' The Maharishi Technology of the Unified Field, using
the invincible power of natural law, offers an invincible
defense strategy, which will rescue mankind from constant fear
and the possibility of total destruction (see Appendix B).

Governments are advised against buying arms from outside,
because this can only prove to be suicidal for any nation and its
neighbor. Governments are encouraged to create invincibility
from the resources within their own country by making use of
the unified field of natural law, which is present everywhere.
Extensive scientific research has repeatedly shown the possi-
bility of raising the defense of any country to the level of in-
vincibility through the Maharishi Technology of the Unified
Field of all the laws of nature (see Appendix D).
It must be realized that the old concepts and strategies of defense
are absolutely obsolete today and Maharishi's new approach of
using the unified field for defense is the only way to make defense
meaningful and guarantee national security for any country.
REHABILITATION AND CRIME PREVENTION
Restoring life to its full dignity in enlightenment
-eliminating crime, the expression of ignorance and stress in the individual and society
Since the lack of world peace is due to the accumula-
tion of stress in collective consciousness, it is vital to
relieve the most concentrated areas of stress in each
country-the prisons. The gloomy atmosphere felt in the vi-
cinity of prisons attests to the negative influence they create in
the whole nation. The technology of the unified field can im-
mediately relieve this burden of negativity by eliminating
stress and restoring balance in the life of the criminal and his
environment.
It is not enough for any country to rely on a system of prisons
for rehabilitation. What is needed is to prevent crime by
developing higher states of consciousness through proper
education in the nation's schools and colleges.
'Action: Those governments who have not yet adopted the
technology of the unified field for rehabilitation are invited to
make use of this technology in the prisons and also through-
out the educational system (see Appendix H).
Scientific research has repeatedly demonstrated that the
Maharishi Technology of the Unified Field effectively rehabil-
itates prison inmates and also reduces crime rates throughout
society (see Appendix D).
Ours is the first generation in the long history of the human
race that has the potential not only to empty the prisons and
relieve these hard areas of stress in all countries, but also to
create a crime-free society and a peaceful world on a perma-
nent basis.

INVITATION TO ACTION
It is fulfilling to proclaim that with the discovery of the unified field of all the laws of nature by modern science
and the development of the technology of the unified field, and with the authority and love of the people that
every government enjoys in its country, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished by a sovereign government
for its people and there is nothing that cannot be accomplished by the people for their government. Every nation
now has the chance to create heaven on earth, which will mean much more than mere world peace. "-Maharishi
M aharishi's invitation to action is a timely
call to every leader of society to use the
knowledge and technology of the unified
field to create an integrated national consciousness
and a peaceful world.
History has shown that efforts for peace based on
all other approaches, whether motivated by love or
by fear, have failed. Mankind continues to live un-
der the threat of war and terrorism.
Only a new seed will yield a new crop; only efforts
based on new knowledge will fulfill the age-old de-
sire of the wise for world peace. The Maharishi
Technology of the Unified Field is that holistic and
most basic approach that makes use of the total po-
tential of natural law to set all trends of life in an
evolutionary direction. With this new knowledge
the whole world family can now enjoy increasing
health, happiness, and prosperity, and usher in a
lasting state of world peace.
Maharishi's criteria for world peace, which will
herald the success of this program, are:
? Elimination of international conflicts, indicated
by the end of the Iran-Iraq war.
? Elimination of terrorism, indicated for example
by peace in Punjab, India.
? Elimination of the dangerous rivalry between
superpowers, indicated by lack of fear in the
world family.
"With the onset of terrorism, world peace is the per-
sonal and urgent need of every significant individual
in the world today, and it must be fulfilled today,
without waiting for tomorrow. " -Maharishi
As a leader of society you are urged to take the
following action:
? Introduce the Maharishi Technology of the
Unified Field in your area of responsibility.
? Sponsor a group of leading citizens from your
country to be trained at the Maharishi World
Peace Center as custodians of world peace for
all areas of society.
Permanent world peace will come as a by-product
of unified field based education, health, econom-
ics, government, defense, and rehabilitation. By
responding to Maharishi's invitation to action,
leaders in every nation will at last possess the
knowledge and organizing power to create perma-
nent world peace and establish unified field based
civilization for all generations to come.

fulfillment of its desire. The principle of least
action, which governs all activity in nature
and uses the skill of nature to quietly accom-
plish everything, is available in its optimum
value when brain wave coherence is maximum
and awareness is in its simplest state-
transcendental consciousness.
In one aspect of the TM-Sidhi program, called
the "flying" technique, at the moment of max-
imum coherence in brain wave activity the
body lifts up and begins to hop (the first stage
of "flying"). Simultaneously, the person exper-
iences waves of exhilaration and profound
stabilization of the silent level of awareness,
the experience of the unified field of all the
laws of nature, the total potential of natural
law. In this way the "flying" technique
accelerates evolution to enlightenment-the
state of fulfillment in which life is lived in full
accord with natural law, free of suffering
and problems.
The phenomenon produced by the TM-Sidhi
procedure of "flying" gives the experience of
bliss and generates coherence between con-
sciousness and matter in the body. EEG
studies have shown that during this phenom-
enon, when the body lifts up in the air, matter
and consciousness are completely integrated.
This integration takes place at the level of the
unified field of natural law, which has the
character of infinite correlation. The impulse
of coherence from this level instantly recon-
tructs the discordant tendencies in nature to
become coherent.
In this way the phenomenon of coherence
spreads, neutralizing the negative tendencies
in the whole creation. This is how modern
science confirms the prediction of Maharishi
Patanjali, who said in his Yoga Sutras:
Tat sannidhau vairatyagah
"In the vicinity of coherence (yoga),
hostile tendencies are eliminated."
One group of 7000 will generate a sufficiently
strong influence of coherence to radiate
globally and purify the whole world con-
sciousness. This explains Maharishi's mechan-
ics of creating world peace and shows how
perfect is Maharishi's approach to world
peace, both as it is understood and applied
through ancient Vedic Science and as it is
verified by modern science.
This is the scientific basis of the decision to
create the Maharishi World Peace Fund.

EXPLANATION FROM QUANTUM PHYSICS
OF THE MECHANICS OF CREATING COHERENCE
IN WORLD CONSCIOUSNESS THROUGH
THE TM-SIDHI `YOGIC FLYING' TECHNIQUE
Dr. John S. Hagelin is one of the world's leading authorities on unified quantum field
theories and has published 40 articles in the last two years in the top professional journals.
