Items of Interest
HPSCI staffers are interviewing all of the officers
mentioned in the IG report and additional senior officials.
This process will continue into next week. We do not expect a
HPSCI hearing on this subject until early December. Still no
sign that SSCI will hold a hearing on this subject.
2. MIGs and Nicaragua
Senator Leahy was briefed at his house on 9 November about
the MIG situation.
3. Aspin Briefing
On 15 November, Congressman Aspin was briefed by Larry
Gershwin on Soviet strategic weapon trends.
4. Barnes Briefing
On 16 November, Congressman Mike Barnes was briefed by DI
analysts on developments in Nicaragua.

Future Events
1. Codel Briefing
On 20 November, a pre-trip briefing is scheduled for
Senators Nunn, Glenn, and Bennett Johnston on India, Pakistan
and Afghanistan.
2. Joint Economic Committee
On 21 November, Bob Gates and his analysts will brief the
Joint Economic Committee on Soviet and Chinese economies.
